Modules

Incubator modules are developed by Magnolia Services in collaboration with customers. They extend Magnolia or integrate with third-party applications. Free for DX Core license owners, but provided โ€œas is,โ€ with no SLA coverage.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Tiered Module System

We've introduced a tiering system for Incubator modules to facilitate better maintenance and ensure higher quality, even though they are not covered by the MLA or SLA. Each year, Magnolia identifies modules for active maintenance based on strategic alignment, customer usage, and market demand. Tier 1: Active

  • Actively maintained
  • Aligned to current strategy
  • Widely adopted by customers
  • Tested for compatibility with upcoming versions

Tier 2: Parked

  • Not actively maintained
  • Provided "as is" with limited updates
  • Low or unclear usage
  • Carries risk - candidate for deprecation
  • Not tested against upcoming versions

Tier 3: Deprecated

  • No longer maintained or updated
  • Legacy modules with better alternatives
  • May not be compatible with current versions
  • Carries higher risk
  • Reactivation requires proven viable need

Note: Magnolia reserves the right to reclassify modules without prior notice.

These modules are aligned with our strategy, widely used, and tested for upcoming Magnolia versions. While not covered by the MLA/SLA, they receive regular updates and fixes.

Provided โ€œas is,โ€ with limited or no updates. These modules may carry risk, are not tested against upcoming Magnolia versions, and may be candidates for deprecation.

Hybrid Assets & Image Focal: Official supported replacements are coming soon. These modules are in maintenance mode only and will be deprecated once new versions are released. Free 1-hour migration assistance is available (first-come, not SLA-based). Email incubator@magnolia-cms.com to plan.

๐Ÿ’ก Support & Maintenance

Incubator modules are not covered by the Magnolia License Agreement or SLA. They are provided on a good-faith basis, with no guaranteed resolution times. Urgent assistance may be purchased through on-demand services.

๐Ÿ”’ Performance & Security considerations

Always assess performance and security impact before using Incubator modules. Tier 2 modules, in particular, may not be compatible with future versions and carry higher risk. Magnolia is not liable for vulnerabilities in parked or deprecated modules.
